Nail Restoration Laser Therapy - Fungal Nail Infections

See post treatment care for this service.
Ponsonby Doctors is excited to introduce a cutting-edge solution for the treatment of fungal toenails, also known as Onychomycosis.        Our new laser treatment options are designed to effectively combat this stubborn condition, offering a faster and more efficient alternative to traditional methods.

Toenail fungus, medically termed "Onychomycosis," is characterized by yellow, thickened, and disfigured nails. These infections are notoriously difficult to treat.

The first line of treatment for fungal toenail infections typically involves topical solutions like Myconail and Ciclopirox, which are applied daily or weekly for a minimum of three to six months. However, these treatments often have limited effectiveness as they sit on the nail surface and struggle to penetrate the thickened nail.

The Advantage of Laser Treatment for Toenail Fungus

Our state-of-the-art Acupulse Carbon Dioxide Laser from Lumenis, featuring the patented ToeTouch function, revolutionizes the treatment of fungal toenails.

The laser works by drilling multiple tiny holes into the nail surface, making it more porous. This allows the topical treatments to penetrate the nail more efficiently, therefore being more effective for nail fungus treatment.

Quick & Painless Procedures

One of the significant benefits of our laser treatment is its speed and comfort. Treatments typically take only 5-10 minutes and do not require any anesthesia.

This procedure is suitable for children aged six and above, making it accessible for a wide range of patients. Moreover, patients can return to their usual activities or school immediately after the treatment, ensuring minimal disruption to their daily routines.

Treatment Frequency & Duration

The number of treatments required varies depending on the condition of the nail at the start of treatment. On average, three sessions are needed to see significant improvement, as there is a limit to how much of the nail can be treated in one session. For severely thickened stages of toenail fungus, up to 6-8 sessions may be necessary.

Pricing & Packages

Our pricing structure is designed to be straightforward and affordable:

  • Initial consultation and treatment (30 minutes): $450
  • Follow-up treatment (15 minutes): $300
  • Package of 3 treatments (paid upfront): $1000
  • Subsequent treatments (for stubborn cases, typically requiring 4-6 treatments): $250 per session
  • Additional toenails: $50 per toenail

Important Information

To ensure the availability of the laser, all treatments must be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance. Patients are advised to wear open-toe shoes or sandals to the treatment and avoid closed-toe shoes for the next 24 hours.

Additional Services

In addition to our advanced laser treatment for fungal toenails, Ponsonby Doctors also offers surgical procedures for ingrown toenails and comprehensive skin consultations for rashes or other foot and skin conditions. Please refer to our service menu for more details.
